The Trophy TR6C of 1968 featured stainless steel mudguards, twin high-level exhaust and a twin leading shoe front brake.

Brakes A new 8in front brake with twin leading shoes and an air scoop anchor plate was fitted. From DU70083, a split pin was fitted to the anchor plate brake cable abutment for safety reasons.

Wheels A longer front wheel spindle was fitted to accept the new front brake. The brake drum styling plate was redesigned, fluted, and was larger than the actual brake drum. It was retained by three small screws.

Mudguards The front mudguard was lengthened slightly from DU81709, but not on the TR6C.

Exhaust From DU82574 (1.4.1968), the TR6C upswept pipes were coupled by a separate ‘H’ piece before entering the silencers. This modification was brought about by the impending noise regulations.

Air filter No change.

Electrical The zener diode was relocated to the front fork middle lug, and housed in a finned heat sink. The new headlamp shell now housed a three position lighting switch, along with a more robust Lucas ammeter and high beam/ignition warning lights.

The barrel-type ignition switch continued as 1967, but was now relocated to the left-hand fork cover. A new Lucas 6CA contact breaker assembly featured independently positioned and adjustable contact points. To make room for this assembly, the condensers were repositioned to the front petrol tank mounting bracket, taking the form of a twin pack fitted with a moulded rubber cover. At DU82146, lubricating felt wicks were added to the contact assembly, to combat premature wear of the contact breaker heels. All models were fitted with a deeper pressing points cover to house the 6CA contact assembly.

The new alternator rotor had cast in raised areas, on which was a scribed line. When this line and primary case pointer aligned, 38 degrees BTDC was indicated.

The TR6C was fitted with a 53/4in diameter headlamp, now chrome plated, which kept the ignition warning light in the centre, the push rotary dip switch on the right, and the pilot-main selection rotary switch on the left. The ignition continued as before with the Energy Transfer system.

The US models were fitted with the Lucas 679 teat-type tail lamp, though now fitted to a new polished alloy housing with triangular reflectors on each side.

Clearhooter horns replaced the Lucas ones.

Speedo/tacho No change.

Handlebars No change.

Seat A new twinseat, with external hinges made from pressings, replaced the previous seat and forged J-shaped hinges. The new seat had a grey ribbed top, white piping, black sidewalks, and a chromed plastic beading around the lower edge. The seat pan also incorporated threaded bosses to take a passenger grab rail. This grab rail was only fitted as standard to US models.

Toolbox The toolbox was incorporated in the detachable left-hand side panel. This side panel was retained by a plastic knob secured by a click spring to prevent accidental unscrewing and loss of the panel.

Note: Starting with the 1968 season models, a process of changing all the threaded components from CEI to UNF and UNC started.
